I do it...its slower than an open turn at first, well as long as your talking about a backflip sorta turn. It takes tons of practice to even figure out how to do it...but after a while, you kinda come into it and its a piece of cakesmiling smiley

I didnt think there was a fly to back flip?? I just do the open turn...

How do you do it? Just like a freestyle turn?

you do it like an old style backstroke turn. i don't really have a opinion either way, i use an open turn, the flip takes more energy and you need more air, but it is faster if you do it corretly.

hmm...well my open turns are faster than my flip turns I'm thinkin...and I think it might be illegal to do a flip from fly to back...?? Not sure though

It is not illegal... I have done it before! You come in to the wall and touch 2(if you don't then you are Dq'ed;touch is done under water) handed then you get into a ball and flip and off you go to backstroke. For me I like that turn better and its faster.

from a back to breast turn a flip is faster if you are able to do them both to top ability. and a flip from fly to back wouldn't make sense because you ahve two hands on the wall and it would be creating alot of resistance to bring them the other way together. it just dosen't make sense. you would have to not touch the wall to make it faster.

i really dont decide what turn im doing til i touch the wall...i can't flip over if i touch the wall with my left arm..but i can with my right..also if my stroke is short i just touch the wall and turn...but lately ive just been doing the touch n go.., if i do a bucket turn i always need to breathe sooner and it messes up my pullout

Once you are on the block, nothing but the race matters.
